Ever since , it ’ s been “ all hands on deck ” for the family . Fred ’ s sons have been involved in the family business from the time they were young , and his wife Jeanie has served in many roles including office manager and accountant . The utility trailer segment was strong business , but Doolittle added their now legendary cargo / enclosed trailers to their lineup in the early 90 ’ s which helped cement Doolittle as a serious contender amongst its peers .
Friend of the family , Chuck Frank , came along in 1998 and offered to help get the word out about Doolittle products . Doolittle ’ s menu of products had grown extensively as they began offering dump trailers and equipment trailers in the late 90 ’ s , but Mr . Frank and Bryan Werdehausen ensured that the the entire country knew about what Doolittle had to offer by “ going old school ” and hitching products behind their trucks and hitting the road , calling on trailer dealers all over the United States . Their efforts more than paid off resulting in tremendous growth . Chuck was given the opportunity to join the leadership ranks and is the only non family owner at Doolittle Trailer Manufacturing .
Doolittle has more than 250 dealers nationwide and has built their way into being a full line trailer manufacturer of utility , cargo , dump , equipment , and deckover trailers . They remain committed to being competitive as well as offering value added features that customers want , backed by the same commitment to quality that has solidified Doolittle Trailer Manufacturing a place as one of the largest manufacturers in the industry . This year will see the release of several new products and the current leadership remains committed to developing new trailers with new features to ensure that Doolittle Trailers , continue to “ Make It Easy ” for their customers .
The best way to describe the “ Doolittle family ” is the most fiercely loyal , “ work hard / play hard ”, proudly patriotic bunch around . Their trucks aren ’ t wrapped in red , white and blue as a marketing tool , they are proud to call themselves a fully American owned and operated manufacturer in the trailer industry .
Fred Werdehausen recently passed away , but he left behind a large impact on the industry and a strong legacy that is the strength that provides the energy behind his large and loyal family . They are poised to continue to foster growth in Doolittle Trailer Manufacturing and see to it that it ’ s around for generations to come .
