A member since 2008 , Tucson Trailer Company has been with the NATDA for the long haul . Owners Patrick Conway , Alicia Conway , Dave Mayo and Pam Mayo started the company during a time most wouldn ’ t dream of a risky investment – the 2008 recession .
It was because of the economy , not in spite of it , that Patrick Conway took the risk of opening a business . Due to the country ’ s economic state in 2008 , Conway noticed a lot of commercial businesses being vacated . After a chat with a local dealership owner , he saw an opportunity to enter the market .
“ One thing led to another ,” remembered Conway . “ We hit it off and I decided , this is a viable business I can open up here in Tucson .”
At the start of business in 2008 , times were tough , even for a hard worker like Conway . It was the love for the ‘ hustle ’, as Patrick calls it , that kept him focused on his goals .
“ When you ’ re young and you ’ re doing something you love , it doesn ’ t feel like a whole lot of work ,” Conway remarked . “ We were hustling seven days a week . When you ’ re self-employed , it ’ s not an easy gig .” continued on page 22
