NATDA ’ s National Account Manager , Jonathan Spiller , sat down with Super Duty Fans ’ owner , Phillip Eggers , to discuss the company ’ s start and unique product application .
Jonathan Spiller , NATDA : What is the history and background of Super Duty Fans ? Was the company born out of a necessity or was a demand created after the idea came about ?
Eggers : Here at Super Duty Fans , we have hobbies that involve large buildings like barns , hangars and machine sheds where you burn up in the summertime . The industrial fans available for these large buildings were either super expensive or ineffective . Since we are frugal people who do not believe it takes $ 10,000 to move air , we designed a new , efficient approach for cooling these buildings . Now , we ’ ve found that our fans are perfect for so many buildings and industries that we could have never imagined .
NATDA : Tell me about your fans ; what size range do you have and what square footage areas are they built to be in ?
Eggers : We have 3 different size overhead fans ranging from 3 ’ to 5 ’, with either single speed or variable speed , plus a floor fan . The 3X fan covers up to 1000 ’, the 4X fan covers up to 2500 ’ and the 5X covers up to 4000 ’.
NATDA : Are your products designed with one application in mind ?
Eggers : The applications of our products are limitless . We particularly shine where there is challenging installation , like ceilings with obstacles such as cranes , lube lines , heaters or low clearances .
NATDA : What sets your products apart in the industry ? What unique features do your products have ?
Eggers : Our fans are safer than the open 24 ’ blades swinging around , can be mounted at any angle to direct the airflow wherever it ’ s needed , are longer-lasting with bulletproof design , move more air than the competition , are easier to install and cost significantly less . We have a patent on 12 of our design features . We have a one-year warranty on the motor and electronics , and a 5-year warranty on the fan .
NATDA : How mobile are your products and can your fans be moved from location to location ?
Eggers : All our fans are portable , not just the floor fans with the wheels . Because our overhead fans are easily installed with the Quad Strap System , you can move them or take them with you when you relocate .
NATDA : Are you looking to sell directly to dealers , distributors or a mix of both ?
Eggers : We sell directly to customers on our website or call centers , and we have a network of dealers who sell to their customers . Our customer is anyone who has a large building to cool .
NATDA : What is your inventory and capacity to fulfill orders ? Do you a have a lead time ?
Eggers : We have a large inventory to fill orders within a few days . We realize fans are not a priority in the winter , but in the summertime , they rank up there alongside oxygen .
