Warm greetings to my dear colleagues in UAP!
Welcome to the Annual National Convention 2014 coinciding
with our 40th Anniversary. Happy Ruby Jubilee everyone!
It is a great privilege to have worked with you again as
Chancellor of the UAP College of Fellows (COF), and this year
has been challenging for the Jury to select amongst the 99
chapter nominations, the 12 successful members to be elevated
to the College of Fellows. We have a LIKHA Awardee for this
year — a woman of substance and compassion, a forceful worker,
in the person of Ar. Yolanda David Reyes. This year too, is a year of results for the UAP COF.
W e have compiled and completed the membership master list to produce the UAP COF
Directory 2014, after the last COF Directory we have in when I was the Scribe in 2003. And
finally, the ambitious printing of the first book of the UAP COF ACHIEVERS BOOK initiated
by the late Architect Publisher Ricardo Poblete, when he was Chancellor in of the College of
Fellows in 2003.
ONE in UAP, this year’s theme for the National Convention is aptly titled in this days of
SELFIE. I hope that we take it upon ourselves, to be reminded that we are One in UAP for
SERVICE, not self service. SELFIE may be trending, it maybe the most used word for the year,
and the common notion is that, it is the best worthwhile thing to do at the moment; maybe
popularly be clamored; or may seemed to be politically correct to do and maybe morally
accepted. BUT then again, I believe it is not the purpose of our presence and essence of UAP.
We are purposely in our PROFESSIONAL organization for the heart and spirit of working for
what is best for the majority, not a selective few and definitely not for one’s SELF. WE are
ONE: Organization of MOVERS, Nation BUILDERS, and Earth KEEPERS! Unanimously for the
best of the majority!
I hope I have shared with you my sincere intention and meaning of SERVICE in UAP.
When I was Chapter President, I aimed for Excellence in Service; during my term as National
President, I worked for ACTION, Now Na in Advancing towards a Meritorious Legacy; now as
my term is ending as the Chancellor of the College of Fellows, I hope too, that I will leave
with you the legacy of all that is good and best with the Architects of UAP, the ONLY ONE,
Integrated and Accredited PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION OF ARCHITECTS! At this point,
I would like to thank my dear co-workers and for all of you who still believe in the deep
meaning of a PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECT.
Mabuhay tayong mga ARKITEKTONG FILIPINO!
