BOON CHE WEE
He was President of Malaysian Institute of Architects from 2009 to 2011, and
during his tenure has led Malaysia to inaugurate the Malaysia Pavilion at the Venice
Biennale to promote Malaysia’s architectural design talents on the global stage
and founded the annual Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival to establish Malaysia’s
capital city as an international design hub.
Ar. Boon was also a founding member of a team of building and construction
industry professionals who volunteered to develop Malaysia’s Green Building Index
in 2009, and led the team from 2010 to 2013 as Chair of the Green Building
Index Accreditation Panel, to steer the novice rating to be Malaysia’s international
benchmark for green building.
As an advocate of design and green as the key differentiators in the region’s
competitiveness, Che Wee is often invited to speak on Malaysia’s initiatives in driving
the country’s design economy, and in the nation’s green transformation.

Ar. Boon Che Wee is a Professional Architect and a Director of GRA Architects
based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ar. Sarly Adre Sarkum is an architecture futurist, sustainability proponent and
design activist. Currently he helms the hybrid architectural design firm [SA]2 or Sarly
Adre Sarkum Architecture SdnBhd which combines cutting edge architectural design
solutions with extensive research based explorative approach to solve challenging
integrated design problems. He is currently the President of the Malaysia Green
Building Confederation which is Malaysia’s Green Building Council under the
auspices of the World Green Building Council. He is also currently a elected council
member of Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (The Malaysian Institute of Architects). He is
currently active and involved in promoting sustainability and design. He is currently
one of the 5 appointed Board of Directors.
