Captains Report Umkomaas Golf Club – 19 August 2021 Dear Nomads
EVENTUALLY we were able to have prize giving with the Covid lockdown level being changed to level 3 . And what a prize giving it was . The two previous months as well as the current month prize giving all wrapped up in one . To save time we appointed runners who distributed the prizes to winners which then saved us a huge amount of time . We were able to wrap up the entire prize giving including an induction and some special awards in just under an hour . Well done to the scorers ( Ian Brewer and Garth Enslin ), the runners ( Greg Graham , Tom Barff and John Elliott ), the Prize guy ( Stephen McClelland ) and of course our Vice-Captain ( Johan Bothma ) for putting on a slick show . Thank you guys !!!
A warm welcome greeted us on arrival to Umkomaas with the wonderful locals and a warm winters day . Not often can you play a round being so close to the beach with those magnificent views and all your buddies around - A special day indeed .
Congratulations to all the winners on the day considering those really fast greens and one needed to treat them with respect . Unfortunately my playing partner John and I were exited from the Gary Player comp as we played like a pair of imbeciles . Well done to Stephen and Aryn whom pretty much annihilated us . Never say die - We ’ ll be back in 2022 !!!
A massive congratulation goes to John Cole for being awarded his 500 game badge and 45 year tie . What a true Nomad and an even better gentleman .
Not to be outdone was Dave Martin receiving his 40 year tie , Richard Eslick receiving his 15 year tie and Richard Barker receiving his 200 game badge . Well Done Gents !!!
A big welcome goes out to Brian Venter ( proposed by Michael Hayes ) on being inducted as a Nomad . I wish you a very long and satisfying career with us .
Mthoko Mtshali won the Joker Draw ! Congrats and I ’ m sure at our next game Mthoko will celebrate with perhaps ringing the bell .
A new Joker Draw starts at Victoria with a guaranteed pay-out of R20,285 . Please note that there is a slight change in the rules of the draw , which will be displayed at the registration table .
