P AGE 2 FEBRUARY 2019 Special Presentation: Captains Report Greetings Nomads Greg Graham, Captain 2018 Tel: 031 566 1349 Cell: 083 647 5715 [email protected] raham, Captain – Natal Nomads 2018 2019 has arrived, which means there are only 4 months left in my position as Captain of Natal Nomads, and Tel: 031 566 1349 I would like to wish all of you a prosperous New Year, I have no Cell: doubt it will 083 647 be better than 2018. My 5715 personal Mantra for 2019 is ‘Trust the Process’ and it is something I kept repeating on my drive to Umhlali email: for our first monthly game of the year. [email protected] o.za Umhlali has always been one of my personal favourites out of all the courses we play, and once again this year it lived up to it again. Mark Chamberlain (Club Captain) and Derick Reinke (Golf Manager), thank you very much to you and your team from Natal Nomads for making us feel incredibly welcome. Nothing was too much effort and all our expectations were surpassed. Despite the tee boxes being hollow tined the week before the course played extremely well and the expected thunder storms stayed away. (Trust the Process). I had the pleasure of playing my round with Mark Chamberlain, John Elliott and prospective member Mykel Addison. Mark and I managed to hold the tee box for all 18 holes, not something one does often in a round of golf, and fortunately for the other 2 no bet was taken. Thank you very much for an enjoyable round of golf Gents. Our guests for the day were Terry Burt, Tony Bouffe, Daryl Govender, Diego Barendse and Brian Giddy. (at the time of writing this I believe we have already received applications from 2 of our guests.) Sean Ferreira joined us from Zambia and I believe will be transferring to Natal soon. Ryan Ringo and Sean Willis were the 2 visiting Natal Nomads. Waiting List Members who joined us were Brandon Barnes and Brand Van Niekerk. We hope that you enjoyed your game and I have no doubt we will see you all again soon. 45 Year – Peter MacNaughton 40 Year- Pat Smythe 35 Year – Mike Jordan 35 Year – Geoff Henebrey 25 Year – Robert Best 25 Year – Blake Shepherd 10 Year – Ray James 5 Year – Craig Redfern 100 Game Badge – Craig Smythe INDUCTIONS: Theo van Rensburg Mykel Addison Resignations received: Tony Beardwell Frans Kemper Rob Hare Rob Santini Harry George Medical Credit granted: Robin Goetzsche Geoff Bell John Cole Deryck Willans Ian Pace Derek Airey ‘Trust the Process’ took on a whole new dimension for me after the game, as you all know Samson gave up the ghost in our December game and the second major hurdle of the day to overcome was scoring. Thankfully Ian Brewer, Mick Sugden and Frans van Schaik were on hand. Samson behaved which meant we were able to begin the unprecedented 3 in one Prize Giving. A massive thank you to my VC, Tom Barff, you handled the 3 prize giving’s exceptionally well. To Chad Walters, Steve McClelland, Ross Alleson, and all those who helped, great job guys. I can safely say that I have not, to date, felt that good about being a Natal Nomad. The camaraderie in the room was tangible, there was cheering and clapping and yet a phenomenal amount of decorum was maintained and we managed to get through the 3 prize giving’s in 51 min’s exactly. Another point to ponder is that prize giving commenced at 5.30 sharp, I would like to request that this th Shaun Barker 4 become the norm going forward. th Craig Strydom 5 th In closing I would like to welcome our latest inductee, Shane Davis, to Natal Nomads. Shane is the Regional Geoff Henebrey 9 th Graham Biffen 10 General Manager for G. Fox (Pty) Ltd. We hope you have a long and enjoyable Nomadic career.
