JUNE 2019 P AGE 1 Special Presentation: Captains Report Tom Barff, Captain 2019 Cell: 083 225 5334 captain@natalnomads.co.za Thomas.barff@liblink.co.za Ties: 20 Year Tie – Peter Avellini raham, Captain – Natal Nomads 2018 Dear Nomads Tel: 031 566 1349 We were treated with great weather for our game at Kloof Country The greens were Cell: 083 Club. 647 5715 as good as I have ever played on at Kloof and were running quick and true. Looking at the scores I think a number of Nomads found them a email: little tricky! INDUCTIONS: Sean Lenz captain@natalnomads.c o.za I had the pleasure of playing with the Captain of Kloof, Garry Ecob, along with my guest Ryan Tulley and Keith Ford. We all struggled somewhat, and limped in with a total of 95 points for our four-ball. Gary and I managed to take some money off Ryan and Keith, but I dare say it was by default rather than by any talented golf! We had the following Special Presentations – 15 year tie to Dave Scott and a 200 Game Badge to Allan van der Veen, well done gents. I will hand over Peter Avellini’s 20 Year Tie at our next game. I am glad to see Natal Nomads getting a steady stream of new members too – I had the pleasure of inducting two new members this month in Alex Crockart and Brian Giddey. Alex is an Attorney with Calitz Crockart & Associates inc and was proposed by Chad Walters. He plays out of Cotswold Downs off a handicap of 8.4. Brian is in transport and warehousing with RB Associated Logistics (Pty) Ltd and was proposed by Trevor Larkan. He is a member of Tanglewood and plays off a handicap of 21.5 – welcome both of you to Natal Nomads! We also had two visitors in John Ridl (Southern Natal) and Ian West (Botswana). Unfortunately we were not able to get over 100 players in the field again this month, which is a concern particularly at Kloof which is one of our most popular monthly games. I said it last month and will say it again - I would encourage every one of you to be pro-active in inviting more guests to play in the monthly games in the hope that they will join Natal Nomads and we can get back to the days of averaging over 100 players. Medical Credit received: Geoff Stead Derek Willans New Applications: FOR JULY – Ray James 5 th Peter Jewell 5 th Dick Skinner 8 th Stephen Frizelle 13 th Tony Ridl 13 th Richard Eslick 23 rd Well done to all those working behind the scenes to make our monthly games a success. Our next game is at Cotswold Downs on Thursday 25 th July – it will be the first time Natal Nomads is playing at Cotswold Downs and I am really looking forward to it. See you then.
