Golforama Way back in 1963, CNA purchased the patent rights to the name "Golforama" which described the scoring system used by Nomads which was to be used at professional and amateur golf tournaments. Whereas the original systems have modernised over time, the name is still used and respected for what it represents. The fact that the Sunshine Tour and events like the Nedbank Golf Challenge are able to deliver the staging of world- class golf events, is in some part attributed to the involvement of Nomads, which in turn enables the Tour to stage a wider variety of professional events that are used by South African professionals both up and coming and those already established. These events include the Big Easy Tour and the IGT Tour. The funds earned through the provision of Golforama services are ploughed directly back into the furtherance of the game though the Nomads Furtherance of Golf initiatives and partnerships within South Africa. These events are spread around the Country including the North West Province. Nomad’s members countrywide volunteer their services at tournaments hosted in their own areas, with collective teams of members being present at the flagship events such as the Nedbank Golf Challenge and the Co-sanctioned European Tour events. The selection for the Nedbank Golf Challenge is based on the number of days each Nomad has contributed towards Golforama and a spread of representatives from all the 12 Nomads Clubs in South Africa. The contribution made by each individual and the challenge of walking for 4 days is taken into account in making the final selection of 41 Nomads. Nomads offer 2445 days of voluntary time annually towards Golforama. The funds raised through this voluntary service are all donated to support the Furtherance of Golf (FOG) initiatives which are summarised below: FOG The development of the game in South Africa is one of the Nomads basic aims and objectives and as such our input into this area through our involvement with the major bodies, has steadily increased over the years. SAGA-Junior Golf - The South African Junior Golf Foundation amalgamated with SAGA in January 2011 and SAGA- Junior Golf was formed. Nomads has steadily increased the sponsorship to SAGA-Junior Golf and this has resulted is Nomads having the title sponsorship of all the Boys National age group tournaments as well as the five National Order of Merit Tournaments that are played around the country; Several Junior Academies are supported by the Nomads with great success. WGSA - The Nomads relationship with Woman’s Golf continues to strengthen every year. It is amazing to see how much the ladies appreciate what Nomads do for them and they go out of their way to accommodate Nomads whenever they can. This strong relationship has meant that Nomads can partner with WGSA and sponsor the annual Rose Bowl Tournament. A highlight for Nomads is the sponsorship of the SA Girls U18. Nomads have got to know these young ladies as they progress and continue to watch their careers as seniors;
