Amanzimtoti Country Club hosted our monthly game on the 19 of March 2019 and thankfully the weather was way better than the last time
we played there. To my 4 ball on the day Colin Scorer, Captain of Toti, Lungi email:
Majola and Trevor Lauderdale, thank you very much for a

wonderful round. Colin, congratulations to you and your team, you can be proud
of your course and the level of consistency it has maintained
o.za
over the years. Judging by the scores on the day our Nomads certainly enjoyed the course. Phil Hodgson and Derek Browne thank you for your
assistance in starting the field.
Joining us as Guests on the day were Craig Askew with Ross Alleson, Jason Moriaty and Bruce Whiting with Mike Graham and Ricky Stopforth
with Terry Young. Visiting Nomads all from Southern Natal were Simon Lee, Ryan Keys and Bob Hall. Sean Phillips and Sean Lenz were the
prospective members in the field and hopefully they will be inducted at our next game at Zimbali. Thank you to all of you for joining us and we
hope that you had a great time and will join us again in the near future.
With the threat of Load shedding hanging over our heads prize giving commenced at just after 5.30. Congratulations to all the winners and in
particular Shaun Barker. Chicken Joe decided to make his receipt of his 10 Year Tie even more special by scoring 41 Points an d winning B
division. Retirement has certainly been good to our A Division winner, Gavin Bissict on 38 Points. ‘Bionic’ Blake Shepherd with 35 Points won
the C Division. Well done, not only to our Divisional winners, but all the winners on the day. I was also privileged enough t o award the

At this juncture I would like to thank Tom Barff, VC extraordinaire. We certainly have had our challenges in terms of prize-givings this year and
we can now add load-shedding as another one that we have conquered. It kicked in half way through our prize-giving and resulted in us doing
the non-skills portion as well as the Super 10 draw in the dark. Well done Tom, despite this we still managed to complete everything by 18:20. David Buxton 8 th

Firethorn Nationals has come and gone and our Contingent of 25 Players fared relatively well on an extremely tough course. We managed to
th
nd
get to 8 in the Bert Hunt Standings, not exactly the result we were hoping for but respectable considering we were 2 in terms of the Coastal
Sides. Kudos must go to Gauteng and in particular Graham Bishop and his team on an exceptional National Event. You have once again raised
the bar to new heights. I would also like to encourage all Natal Nomads to try and attend away tours and Nationals wher e possible, the
camaraderie and friendship fostered at these events certainly contributes massively to our Nomadic Journey. Dean Hodgson 11 th

In closing it is with an extremely heavy heart that I convey the passing of Gauteng Nomad, Darren Holm, The Sheriff of the Cowboy Bar! Those
of you who crossed paths with this wonderful gentleman will know that as sad as his passing is, he would want us to celebrate his life. Our
sincere condolences to his wife, Samantha, his family and friends………………And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls
for thee.
