Greetings Nomads
Just a brief report back on the Buffalo Nationals held in East London
It was the first time I had played East London golf course and I was very impressed – you can see why it has been ranked
in the top 10 SA courses - a superb layout next to the sea with many truly great (tough) golf holes. We were lucky that
the weather played its part and we got most of our golf in benign conditions.
We had 22 players representing Natal, and it was our best performance for some time in the Bert Hunt standings. We
were 5 th after day 1, moved up to 2 nd on day 2 and by Wednesday we were leading the standings! Unfortunately, were
not able to bring it home and ended up in 3 rd place. Still a great effort and well done to all of you!
Some special mentions:
• Mike Jordan for winning the B Division on the Tuesday with 39 points
• Garth Hanger for winning the match box on the same day with 20 points!
• Janus Horn for best Natal player over the 4 days with a very good score of 132
•
All the boys enjoyed themselves, and as you can imagine there was plenty SAB beer and Glynbrynth whisky consumed!!
Thank you to each one of you for making this one of the most memorable Nationals.
Many thanks
Tom Barff (Captain)
