NASCAR Nationwide Series Entitlement - FALL November 2014 | Page 2
Phoenix International Raceway is a one-mile, low-banked dog-leg track. Hosting the second
race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series provides Phoenix International Raceway a unique
position within the sport of NASCAR – the first race to follow the prestigious Daytona 500. The
2014 Spring Event Weekend schedule features three days of NASCAR racing, including the
return of the NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series Toyota 120. As the only west coast track to host
two races each year, PIR’s November event weekend plays a pivotal role within the sport as
the
Semi-Final Race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. With the
national media spotlight shining on PIR for the November event weekend, it’s position as the
second to the last race can either solidify a driver’s chances of winning the Championship or it
can set the stage for a season-ending,
edge-of-your seat finale.
