Featured Artist: Calvin Woodum

Calvin Woodum, a former Fashion major at The Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), is from Wrightsville, Georgia. Woodum currently lives and works in Savannah, Georgia as an artist, an administrator with Visit Savannah, and is an active member of Savannah's thriving art community. He has been recognized by Telfair Museums for his outstanding service and leadership as the Chair of Friends of African American Art, (2021 - 2024).

Woodum is an abstract artist and has shifted his focus to painting with acrylic on canvas, exploring the "layer upon layer" technique. His art is featured on the cover of Julie Coates’ book, "Invisible Diversity Teaching Every Student."

Woodum was the first winner of the Low Country Artist Contest and was featured in the "Lowcountry Stories and Guests" print magazine and video journal.

He has also been written about in multiple local publications and has been interviewed on "Art On The Air" on WRUU-107.5FM radio talk show and featured in "Art Off The Air" article several times.  He was "The 912" featured artist for February/March 2022 Newsletter with Savannah Morning News and has been featured several times in "Connect Savannah." Most recently, Woodum was profiled on WSAV-TV's "Winning Wednesday" with Tina Tyus-Shaw highlighting his achievements and excellence in the community.
