Owensboro Museum of Science and History
As one of the only active prison museums in the country, the Angola Museum helps build a bridge to a mostly unseen world. The museum works to inform, educate, and excite the public. Building on a unique and interactive experience the galleries and staff present the history of the Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola), as well as the Louisiana Correctional System as a whole.
The Owensboro Museum of Science and History is housed within an historic 19th and early 20th century building complex located steps away from the banks of the mighty Ohio River. The Museum of Science and History serves as the front door to Owensboro’s vibrant downtown and is a gathering spot, a learning center and a family-friendly entertainment experience. Our interactive experiences, natural history and regional history exhibits, diverse programs and community events encourage patrons of all ages to become life-long learners.
