Dutch Golden Age: Prints by Rembrandt and His Contemporaries
More than sixty prints from the Reading Public Museum’s collection help tell the story of the production of prints in seventeenth century Holland, viewed by art historians as one of the most innovative periods in the history of printmaking. General themes such as genre subjects (scenes from everyday life), landscapes, allegories, religious works, and figure studies will be included in the exhibition. More than a dozen works by or after Rembrandt will join additional prints by other well-known Dutch artists of the time.
