Founded in 1886, and open year-round, the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum houses ten galleries of exhibit spaces focused on the history, heritage, and people of Suffolk County, and a Special Library of Archives available for history and genealogical research. With exhibits that illustrate history through the many varied lenses and cultures of

our people, we identify and acknowledge hundreds of historically significant moments that shaped who we are, today, and the artifacts associated with those moments. Our family-friendly museum offers both permanent "core" exhibits and rotating galleries, enabling us to tell new stories each year.
