The Allen County Museum and Historical Society (ACM) is a campus of the main museum, a large fully furnished Victorian house and a mid-1800s log house. ACM tells the story of the Western Ohio region fro prehistory through the industrial revolution that defined much of the 19th century, the turmoil and continued scientific and social changes of the 20th century, and the uncertainties of our present time. The permanent collection includes a broad range of disciplines that span the breadth of American history. ACM also houses one of the largest train-related collection in the United States.

Shaker Historical Society

The Shaker Historical Society collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Shaker Heights to inspire curiosity and foster engagement between diverse communities and the people, events, and stories that shape local history. Founded in 1947, the society operates a museum housed in a historic 1910 mansion, showcasing exhibits on the North Union Shaker religious community, the Van Sweringen brothers, and the planned development of Shaker Heights. It offers educational programs, archival research opportunities, and community events to engage residents and visitors in local history. The society also maintains archives and a collection of artifacts that illustrate the area's rich past.
