The Carondelet Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and presenting the heritage of our unique community. Carondelet was formerly an independent village, town, then city, and is now a neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The Carondelet History Museum is the site of Susan Blow's Des Peres School. The school was founded in 1873 as the first publicly funded Kindergarten in the United States. The Museum is also home of the Frederick Bouchein Library, one of the finest historical libraries and archives in the region.

The mission of the Lakeshore Museum Center and its Historic Sites is to inspire curiosity and wonder about Muskegon County’s natural and cultural history through our interactive exhibits and experiential programs. The Lakeshore Museum Center houses natural and cultural history exhibits. It is comprised of multiple sites and buildings including the Hackley & Hume Historic Site

The Hackley & Hume Historic Site is where Muskegon Lumber Barons Charles Hackley and Thomas Hume lived. Both are Queen Anne style Victorian homes. The Hackley House, interpreted to 1890, shows what life was like for one of Muskegon’s most well-known citizens. The Hume House, interpreted to 1920, shows the life of a wealthy family after the lumbering era. Additional exhibit space and a gift shop are inside The City Barn.
