The Museum of East Texas opened its doors in 1976 in a beautifully remodeled Episcopal church (now called "the Chapel") originally built in 1906. The Museum provides education and enrichment for all ages through art and history exhibitions with no entry fee. In addition to the Chapel, the Museum houses a large gallery, an education room that has activities for children and families, a Discoveroom Gallery, and a Rotary Gallery that features the works of Angelina Photographic Association members and members of Lufkin's Art Guild. The Museum holds approximately 2000 works of art (both paintings and sculptures) and over 200 historical artifacts in our collections.
