Opening in September 2021, the Mary M. Torggler Center at Christopher Newport University will present changing exhibitions of art in a wide variety of media, as well as year-round educational programs and classes for children and adults. The Torggler houses a sweeping main gallery, student galleries, and a community gallery, as well as studio classrooms and an interactive gallery for children, opening in 2022.

The Jansen Art Center creates opportunities for the community to engage in the arts. In August of 2012, designers, creatives, architects and contractors came together to build something unique not just for Lynden, but all of Whatcom County. What was once the City Hall and Fire Hall on Lynden’s Front Street, now stands The Jansen Art Center. With 6 creative art studios, a 110 seat performance hall, 2 floors of exhibit space, and gallery shop, the J is a bright lovely place for all to enjoy. The J offers free admission to exhibits, classes in all studios, performances, and more.
