time compared to men( 10.8 %), while men were slightly more likely to worsen in their ability to do Household Work( 22.2 %) over time compared to women( 19.7 %). These data suggest that men may show a loss of ability in these ADLs to a greater extent over 10 years than women.
The development of frailty can be faster in people with chronic disease and multiple comorbidities. Age and lack of sufficient social support can also speed up the advance of frailty. It is important to identify long-term changes in the ability of people with MS to perform ADLs to anticipate needed changes in treatment and care. The longitudinal data collected by NARCOMS can provide insight into those changes, which highlights the importance of long-term follow-up by NARCOMS participants.
