Public Transportation The Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA) provides seasonal public transit bus service called The Wave. Service is provided to/from Nantucket Town to mid-island and outlying areas on the Mid-Island and Miacomet loops; Madaket on the Madaket route; ‘Sconset on the ‘Sconset via Old South Road route, the Milestone Road route, and the Polpis Road route; Surfside Beach via the Surfside Beach route; Jetties Beach via the Jetties Beach route; Fast Ferry Connector from the Park & Ride lot at 2 Fairgrounds Road; and Nantucket Memorial Airport via the Airport route. Stops are conveniently located along all loops/routes, and are designated by gray posts with blue stripes. Park and Ride lots are available along the Miacomet and Mid-Island loops. You may park free of charge and “Ride the Wave”. One, three and seven-day passes may be purchased aboard all buses. Thirty-day and season passes may be purchased at the NRTA office. All buses are accessible to people with disabilities and equipped to accommodate two bikes on a first-come, first-served basis.
