Construction
Our local NGO partner, Child’s Dream, establishes a close partnership with the community leaders and the school management when developing educational infrastructure projects to ensure a more successful outcome. This is seen in terms of successfully meeting educational needs and supporting community development that leads to greater sustainability.
At Nand Ngainge Branced Primary School the community was encouraged to actively participate in the construction. This participation gives villagers a stronger sense of pride and ownership of their project. For this project, the community contributed to the construction process with scaffolding, manual labour, and raised funds to build an additional toilet for the school.
On the 1st of September 2018, construction started on the school building. Child’s Dream collaborated with Pa O National Organisation (PNO), a local community-based organisation. PNO was in charge of sourcing all the required construction materials, labour, furniture and transportation of all materials to the site.
The Child’s Dream project team visited the construction site several times to ensure that high quality standards were being met. The whole construction process ran smoothly and very quickly. The building was fully completed on the 31st of December 2018.
