Nand Ngainge Branched Primary School - Myanmar (clone) | Page 6

Nand Ngainge Branched Primary School is located in Nand Ngainge Village (meaning “Easy Water” in Shan language) in Taunggyi District, Southern Shan State, Myanmar. Shan State is largely rural. The people of Shan State mostly rely on industrial farming for their livelihood.

Established in 2016, Nand Ngainge Branched Primary School had one temporary and poorly constructed school building which was supported by substandard timber columns sitting directly on the ground, flattened bamboo walls and floor, and a corrugated metal roof. The building hardly offered any protection from the extreme and harsh weather conditions, especially during the cold season. With low-grade materials and poor workmanship combined, the ramshackle building was beyond repair and in dire need of replacement. The students clearly lacked a safe and suitable infrastructure to focus on their learning.
