Brock’s
Redemption
Book Review
Shannan Harper
Here’s my review:
Jodi is a divorced college professor who runs
into Fred Brock while jogging in a park not too
far from home. What Jodi doesn’t know is that
he is a Nephilim, a product of a human woman
and a fallen male angel, which happened after
the Flood during Noah’s time. Some of the
descendants are evil, while others, like Brock,
are the good ones who are also known as
Watchers. Their job is to protect humans, God’s
greatest creation and they also are looking
for their “Spirit Mates”, the only woman for
them, whose blood can rid them of demons
that still reside within. Not only did I enjoy the
developing relationship between Brock and
Jodi, I also enjoyed the interaction between the
main characters and the secondary characters,
which included Raphael, Brock’s second in
command and the other watchers who, in turn,
will have their own stories.
Normally, this is not my type of read as I have
never been a fan of paranormal. I first came in
contact with Eva Brock at a Chicago book event
now called Book Euphoria. I didn’t visit her table
since I didn’t think her work was my style. After
a recommendation from a Facebook Friend,
I took a chance and bought some books at
Romance Slam Jam and I have been a fan them
ever since. Practically kicked myself for waiting
so long. This was such an amazing story. I was
finally able to start the first one and couldn’t
put it down. I was engaged throughout. I have
books 3-5 of her novels in trade paperback, and
had to dig through bins to make sure they were
accessible. As soon as I finish some books that
have a due date to be returned to the local
library, I’m diving in the rest of the series. I don’t
know when I’ll come up for air.
