men . She couldn ’ t quite explain it , but she couldn ’ t resist the opportunity to see him up close and personal .
His pictures did not do him justice , in her opinion . She struggled to maintain eye contact the entire time she asked her questions , a surefire tell-tale sign that her attraction was evident . It was the reason behind the ensemble she wore ; she even went “ commando ” in case she could develop the courage to throw herself at him .
There was something in his eyes ; he was in control , just as he ’ d taken control of the conversation , despite her attempts to wrest that control away from him . It excited her in ways she hadn ’ t felt in quite some time . She found herself willing to do whatever he asked — once the interview was over , of course .
The way the conversation-slash-interview progressed , however , it became evident that he was a man in love , and there was nothing her feminine wiles could do to change his mind , even in a moment of strife . In her experience of having bedded a few “ taken ” men , in times of stress , they could be had , even if they regretted it afterward . By then , she had the leverage to use the connection to her advantage , at a moment of her choosing . She did what she could to suppress those urges , despite the fact that it might be the last time she would be in such close proximity to the debonair politician . “ It was a pleasure talking with you , Senator . Thank you again for agreeing to see me under these circumstances . I hope and pray that she is found safe and sound .”
Terrell sighed and gave up a weak smile as he escorted her to the front door . “ You ’ re quite welcome . I hope I gave you something newsworthy .”
“ Don ’ t worry , sir . You did more than you realize ,” Lana replied as she made her way to the elevator .
“ Wait .”
