One Easter, when I was around 12 or 13, I got my first pair of “heels.” (I think
they were actually wedges). I was so excited about receiving those white criss-
cross sandals. Well, lo and behold we got snow flurries but I was determined to
wear those shoes! I begged my mother to let me wear them and our compromi-
se was a pair of white tights. Looking back, I realize they were a huge fashion
faux pas but I was a kid, so I got a pass. LOL. Who would’ve thought it would
snow on Easter? (Only now, they are calling for mixed precipitation the day
after. Go figure).—Victoria Kennedy, author of Sometimes Love
