Don ’ t Run ( from you ) her answer by Sierra Kay

Don ’ t Run ( from you ) her answer by Sierra Kay

Don ’ t run from you ? My past is littered with broken promises Shards of neglect are embedded deep within the skin Each relationship like a squeeze of lemon , shocking pain
Don ’ t run from you ? Every roof from where I sought shelter caved at the forecast of rain The open door to my heart was used as a battering ram to knock me down , belittle me Until there was no fight . Only flight . Only survival . Solitary being my only defense
Don ’ t run from you ? The weight of poor choices has brought me to my knees Crawling forward instead of walking lest I take another misstep Living under the radar of life , barely emitting a pulse
But I shouldn ’ t run from you . Why ?
Is it because you make my voice your day ’ s beginning and end ? Or maybe because your words and your actions align like a divine constellation on a clear night ? Or maybe when I least expect it you prove your superiority to those who ’ ve previously traveled your path ?
Babe , that makes you the scariest of all And yet , try as I might , I ’ m not immune
Because believe me , the warmth of your hand on my heart is the balm healing all wounds Believe the power of your mere voice has wrapped Wonder Woman ’ s lasso around my soul , holding me firm Believe that I couldn ’ t run if I wanted to Because my feet follow my heart . and my heart beats closer and closer to you .
So love , basically , I ’ m here . Now what ?
