First off, I need to make my usual disclaimer; I have a ghostwriter. Yep, I said it. I sit down at my computer without a thought, care or outline in the world and I take dictation from my ghostwriter. And everyone who knows me knows that my ghostwriter is none other than the Holy Ghost. I allow God to give me the messages He wants for His people. His timing is always perfect, so readers seem to get the message right when they need it most. I’m sure tons of authors who are Holy Ghost writers can attest to this. We’ll go back and read the proof pages of our books and say, “Who wrote this amazing book?” LOL. We can’t remember writing half the stuff or even where it came from. We ask ourselves how did we ever come up with the ideas to pen such a story line. Well, we didn’t. God’s not going to give you a gift and a talent and, one; not make room for it, and two; not show you how to use it. So, my ghostwriter comes up with the book ideas, and my fingers just run with it. I’m what we in the literary industry refer to as a pantser; I write by the seat of my pants. I only outline when it’s required by my publisher in the contract. You where many hats in the industry: agent, editor, consultant as well as writing your novels. How do you manage to balance your work life? I find time to write and I make time to write. How? I hate to be cliché by using the Nike slogan, but I just do it! Seriously. I have a husband and four kids; three of my children are still in school. Do you think they give a rat’s tail about Deborah, Paige, Helen, Tamarra, Mother Doreen, and Pastor Margie (some of the people in my books)? And on the same token, my characters don’t give a flip about my husband and kids either. So, I have all these different people wanting to be heard, needing something from me, pulling me in a million different directions. I know people like to throw the term “balance” around. I probably have a time or two as well, but then I took the liberty of looking up the word balance. Balance deals with equal distribution and equal proportions. Ha! Not in my life. In my world, no task is created equal. I don’t cook with a measuring cup, so I surely can’t use one to live and balance my life by. 8) Where can people and you on the internet and or/ social media?
