As we observe Mother Nature and try to mimic
her effortless perfection, we strive to design an
environment of constant growth; a selfevolutionary system that reflects the natural
patterns of the Earth itself.
Nākd Farmacy Tropical Wellness Farm, is our family’s
sustainable living project nestled on 5 acres of rich,
un-spoilt virgin forest in the Northern Range of
Trinidad. With the presence of an endless community
of plants, living organisms, a mountain ridge that
nestles the back of the property much like a Chinese
protection dragon that not only brings protection, but
abundance and prosperity to the land. And a lazy
flowing river not too far away, is a booming
manifestation of Mother Nature's self-expression.
There are many dreams and ideas captured within this
adventure... but like any revolutionary project,
success is achieved one step at the time. The project
will begin by the development of a living fence made
of live teak trees to mark boundary lines and for
protection. Teak was chosen as it has good commercial
value and for its uses in traditional systems of
medicine. The extract of the different parts of the
plant shows various activities like antibacterial,
antioxidant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory,
antiasthmatic, analgesic, diuretic, hypoglycaemic,
antidiabetic, antipyretic, wound healing, antiulcer,antinociceptive, anti-tumor, anti-metastatic and
hair growth activity.
Dyes are produced from the root bark and young
leaves and this is used for paper products, matting
and cloth. Dye from the leaves alone is used for dying
cloth especially wool and cotton. The sawdust is burnt
as incense and the leaves are edible.
