How is the grant money used? To feed hungry children who may not have a hot meal otherwise. In 2019, The Felton Award Winner was Mama’s Kitchen from San Diego, CA. They serve more than 475,000 hot meals to the at-risk populations in their community. These meals are provided to the children of terminally ill patients who can’t prepare meals for their children. All this is done by a cadre of over 900 volunteers. To support educational programs for children with special needs. Our Foundation has helped such groups as Childserve — a group home and therapeutic rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy. We have also helped Down’s Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area — a music therapy program for 150 children to improve cognitive and motor development through music and movement therapies. To fill backpacks with school supplies for children who are victims of domestic violence. In 2019, Project Backpack helped 5,000 children, ensuring they can fully participate in their schoolwork. We assist with housing for parents of children in treatment centers. The Foundation supported the Ark House, which provides a warm bed, meals and other support for families. It supports mentoring programs, supplying a positive influence for children at risk. In 2019, the Foundation awarded a grant to CASA of Orange County, providing mentors who help abused foster children to develop life skills through example and support. Want to help?
