Former Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Morgan Stanley Event Planner Joins NAILBA staff Former Capitol Hill, Political and Corporate Advocacy Communications Strategist Joins NAILBA Staff My Name is Shara Wells and I am thrilled to join NAILBA as the new Annual Meeting and Member Engagement Manager! My role within the association consists of the plan- ning and execution of the Annual Meeting as well as member engagement throughout the year. I am currently working on menu, entertainment, set up, and hotel accom- modations for NAILBA 37. I am so excited to help push NAILBA into the future with new ideas and a fresh perspective! Before joining the NAILBA team, I studied at George Mason University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Event Management. My early career start- ed as an event manager for Marriott hotels, moving on to plan elaborate events for the Ritz-Carlton brand, and then on to Morgan Stanley. I’m happy to be bringing my event planning expertise to NAILBA and can’t wait to meet all of you at #NAILBA37! I’m Telly Lovelace, your new Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications. I joined NAILBA in mid-August and my role is to develop and execute the association’s marketing, communications, and public re- lations strategy. I’m also the new editor for Perspectives Magazine. Prior to joining NAILBA, I worked in communications and public affairs for po- litical and corporate issue advocacy cam- paigns, non-profit organizations, trade as- sociations, and for elected officials. Most recently during the 2016 election cycle, I oversaw targeted political initia- tives, strategic media engagement, and was a spokesperson at the Republican National Committee (RNC). Before the 2016 campaign, I held director of com- munications positions for the current governor of Maryland, former and current congressmen from Illinois and Ohio, and a former U.S. senator from Missouri. I also worked in communications and public affairs for the trade association representing America’s brand-name pharmaceutical manufacturers and lead a corporate issue advocacy campaign on behalf of StubHub and the sports and entertainment secondary ticketing marketplace. I’ve worked or consulted for several political campaigns, non-profit organizations and political action com- mittees in and around Washington, D.C. Although I’ve had an exciting career in-and-around politics and govern- ment, I’m elated to bring my years of communications and public relations skills and experience to NAILBA. My mission is to develop a proactive, for- ward-thinking communications and public affairs strategy for NAILBA and NAILBA’s Charitable Foundation. I look forward to meeting you at #NAILBA37!
