We asked the ID 20 award winners how they are feeling about technology and the impact it has had on the way they are doing business .
An enthusiastic embrace
Andy Albright : YES — we are embracing technology and selling a lot of policies all over the USA on the internet … the geography has totally changed … DEFINITELY improved our way of doing business .
Rob Carney : While technology continues to improve ( speed , features , integrations , etc .), I think what has really changed is the way we , as an industry , have embraced the technology available to us — both internally and with our clients . Think of the old adage “ you can lead a horse to water but you can ’ t make him drink ” which was our industry of old — introducing great technology tools that had low adoption rates . We have turned a new corner with usage rates on all components of our digital transaction tools growing quite strongly .
Steve Katz : Both our producers and the agency have embraced digital solutions . LIBRA ’ s proprietary digital illustration and submission system has really been a godsend and is simplifying the way we do business with the carriers . We ’ ve also been successfully having video meetings with our producers , staying in touch on a personal level .
Blessing in disguise
John Ziambras : Well , things sure changed in 2020 , literally overnight , as what may have been considered optional became imperative in order to continue to exist and operate . Call it whatever you want , silver lining , blessing in disguise , COVID-19 has forced people to look at their P & L in a way they may never otherwise have , and make bold changes most of which are likely to be permanent .
Tracey Edgar : COVID definitely accelerated the use of technology in the insurance business and right now , if you don ’ t have the internet , you are out of business . Sales teams are using great video sharing technology and adding additional apps to
