I am honored to serve as your 2021 Chairman , carrying on Chad Milner ’ s admirable work of the past year and continuing to bolster independent distribution .
2020 was an unprecedented year with new challenges , but these challenges also present incredible new opportunities to make a positive impact on both our industry and our country . A global pandemic has changed our way of life — for now — and increased underwriting complexity on certain risks and older ages . According to Google , search queries related to life insurance increased 50 % year-over-year on an organic basis . The world is seeking a secure future , and independent distribution is going to be part of the reason our industry gets back to 20 million policies sold — and beyond .
Look at the history of NAILBA and our shared future of opportunity : NAILBA ’ s heritage is to be the voice of independent distribution , and that will always be the case . We have made major strides in the last several years — rebuilding our staff , reinvigorating our Board , and upping our game with an improved member and carrier value proposition . We have come a long way , but we ’ re really just getting started .
NAILBA is laser focused on collaborating and leading our industry through a period of unprecedented change and growth . I am truly privileged to chair the esteemed NAILBA community for the coming year , and look forward to harnessing the wisdom and influence of our 2021 Board of Directors to take our organization and our industry to new heights .
