Family Self Sufficiency Success

The FSS Success this month is Amanda Hittenmiller . Amanda moved into her apartment here at the New Albany Housing Authority in June 2021 . When she got her apartment , she was told about FSS . While still unpacking from the move and tending to her son Wyatt , Amanda went over to the Family Support office and enrolled in the FSS program . She met with her FSS case worker Cindy regularly to discuss work opportunities and plans for the future . Amanda remained steady that she did not want to move any further until she completed her high school diploma . She knew that her job prospects would be better with a high school diploma . She immediately began working with Karen Jeakins , our high school equivalency teacher . She showed up every day at the Family Support office to study and ask for help . Amanda was diligent in her studies ... she put in her ear plugs and went to work studying algebra and other topics . Ms . Karen was right there to guide and instruct . Cindy was her encourager each step of the way . In December 2021 , right before the holidays , she was scheduled to take her test at Ivy Tech Community College . As 2022 arrived , Amanda found out that she PASSED her test and is now a High School graduate . We are so proud of her and cannot wait to see what she will accomplish in the future !
Congratulations Amanda !
