Ivanna's Farewell Message

I would like to thank NAELPA for the opportunity to serve! As a member, I knew I wanted to do more to impact the field of EL education through the organization. I wasn’t sure what, so I watched and wondered where my talents would best fit. I love people and I believe in the organization, so I chose Membership. Little did I know that I would end up serving as President and spearheading a rebranding of the organization!

From NCSTIID to NAELPA! The organization has expanded its capacity to support EL Program Administrators and EL education through the newsletter, committees, webinars, the conference and more. I have grown professionally and personally through direct access to the U.S. Department of Education staff in OESE and OELA, researchers and authors, and by networking with likeminded professionals.

I have mixed emotions about leaving my formal board service, but am honored to continue representing the board on the National EL Roundtable. As a member, I will continue to watch, determine how my talents can contribute and volunteer my time. I encourage you to do the same!

The NAELPA Board would like to thank Ivanna Mann Thrower Anderson for the last four years of dedication and service on the Board of our organization. The organization has grown tremendously and Ivanna has certainly served as a key player in that process. Even though she will be leaving the Board, we know we will continue to draw on her expertise in time to come.

Thank You, Ivanna!
