Definitive Pet Owners Guide for EXPATS in Vietnam
For exsiting EXPATS living in Vietnam with their pets and for those considering moving
to Vietnam and taking along your four-legged family members!
I
f you are an Expat living in
Vietnam, there are critical
questions and issues you should
consider when thinking about
bringing a pet into your home.
Expats should not never assume
that raising a pet in Vietnam
is similar to their experiences
of raising pets in their native
country. Be prepared to be
surprised, and truly shocked!
And never, never assume
anything!
First bit of advice
That moment you learn that you
would like to extend your time living
and working in Vietnam you have
become a long- term stay Expat.
Thoughts of marriage, children and
pets will naturally arise. We advise to
seek out help from Expats who have
experience with their own pets and
issues of pet ownership in Vietnam.
The best place to start is this pet
publication. In the issues ahead Me
Thu Cung will be discussing in depth
pet ownership for Expats living in
Vietnam. From providing sources of
information for essential pet care
products and direct experience from
interviews of seasoned pet owners in
Vietnam.
Join Social Media
Secondly, if you live in Saigon
consider joining the Facebook Group
Dog Owners in Saigon, if you live
in Hanoi there is the Dog Owners
in Hanoi. These online support
groups are growing in popularity
and managed by caring pet owners.
Although there are not many online
social community support groups
dedicated to pets for other smaller
cities of Vietnam, most of what is
discussed in the Saigon and Hanoi
groups are applicable to living in
smaller cities in Vietnam.
Definitive Pet Care Directory
Currently, there is not much choice
of pet care products and services for
either Expat and local pet owners
in Vietnam. To solve this dilemma
Me Thu Cung will create a one-stop,
go-to-source of service for pet owners
in Vietnam. We are compiling the
first ever comprehensive directory of
pet products and services. Our goal
is to eliminate the inconvenience in
finding essential pet care products
and services. We also want to
provide a sense of security for people
considering their first pet in Vietnam
in that they will be able to provide
proper care for their four-legged
friends on a daily basis, and in case of
emergencies.
