Message from the Spice Isle
Cultural Festival President Byron Cameron
Allow me to once again to welcome you to our partnership with Mėlange Travel & Lifestyle Magazine for 2022 as the second Special Edition of the Mėlange Magazine comes to fruition . On behalf of the Spice Island Cultural Day Association of Quebec ( SICDAQ ), we say a big “ Thank You ” to Ms . Debbie Austin and the Mėlange Group for again producing another great magazine showcasing our annual Spice Island Cultural Festival with all things Grenadian . We are extremely proud to feature our Grenadian people , places and products to the world through this magazine .
In 2021 Grenada was named the first Culinary Capital of the World by the World Food Travel Association ( WFTA ). This tourism program devised by the WFTA puts the spotlight on culinary cultures around the world . Therefore , Grenada being the first to receive this award , our theme for this year ’ s Spice Island Cultural Festival , which will be held in Montreal on July 9th is : Grenada – A Culinary Delight ! We are very honoured and pleased to invite Chef Belinda Bishop , one of Grenada ’ s Top Executive Chefs , to head our long list of Grenadian and other Caribbean Island Chefs who will participate in the Spice Island Cultural Festival , now becoming the most talked-about Festival in Canada .
The Festival looks very promising as our members and volunteers are planning for 2022 as an opportunity to reboot our events and revive downtown Montreal after the pandemic . As Festivals in Montreal reopen the outdoor Spice Island Cultural Festival is on the rise again . We are eager to bring live music and scrumptious Grenadian cuisine back to Vinet Park after two years of holding the Festival virtually .
Special thanks to the Government of Grenada , The Grenada Tourism Authority , The Grenada Ministry of Culture , CTV BellMedia , TNKR Media , the City of Montreal and many others who are supporting this venture . Thanks also to our hard-working Board and Committee members , all the participants in the upcoming Festival and the wonderful people being featured in the Magazine . We appreciate your kind and continued support in our endeavours .
We send a special invitation to everyone to experience the rich culture of Grenada , Carriacou and Petite Martinique at the 5th annual Spice Island Cultural Festival . Some events will be broadcast live on our YouTube Channel and Facebook page on July 9th .
You can ’ t miss this ! Come to the Festival , stay for the food !
Sincerely ,
Byron Cameron President
