Education , Social , Economical and Political Development of Grenada . Mike served as President of the Association from 1985 to 1986 .
On January 22 , 1982 , Mike founded the Montreal- Caribbean Soccer League . This was the first time a league of this caliber was formed in the Black Community . It provided soccer players the opportunity to play competitive games in an atmosphere of friendship and congeniality , and fostered an environment of teamwork , camaraderie , dedication and respect .
Demonstrating his commitment to promoting sports in Quebec , Mike is a founding member and first President of the Grenada Islanders ’ Cricket Club of Montreal , established in 2003 . The club provided playing opportunities to players of all abilities and ages , and afforded an environment where individuals could play recreationally and competitively .
Michael Joseph is a dedicated , resourceful and conscientious individual , who has played an integral role in establishing many organizations in the Black community of Montreal . He is indeed a stalwart of our community .
Lona from La Digue , St . Andrew ’ s Grenada , emigrated to Canada in 1967 , the year of Expo ‘ 67 . She was part of the second wave of Caribbean women emigrating to Canada , when Canada was looking for women to fill employment in traditional women service sectors .
Lona is one of the founding members of Grenada Nationals Association of Montreal Inc . ( GNAM Inc .) As a lifelong member of GNAM Inc . it was Lona ’ s idea that GNAM Inc . create the formation of a Disaster Fund to be headed by a Disaster Committee within GNAM Inc . She was convinced such a fund could well serve

members of the Montreal Grenadian community , and Grenada whenever disaster struck . Over the years quite a few individual and families in the Montreal Grenadian community , other Montreal ethnic communities and Grenada have been beneficiaries of this fund to a lesser or larger extent in times of need .
She ’ s the daughter of Philemon James Williams a former centurion and still active member of ( GNAM Inc .) when he passed at age 105 years in 2004 . Lona is the proud mother of Debbie and Victor Williams . She ’ s the widow of Mark Calder , the sister of the late Germaine Calder , and aunt
