Silks of Sheba was influenced by Mahlet Yohannes ’ many years of travelling across the world , immersing herself in the different cultures , languages , and experiences encountered throughout her career in Aviation . In the past 10 + years , Mahlet visited more than 70 countries , eventually getting absorbed into the design community .
Silks of Sheba was launched to celebrate Mahlet ’ s African heritage while empowering local artisan communities and supporting nonprofit charities that build water wells in rural Africa .
