To Table of Contents the frustrations of getting the right COVID test in time , worrying about the results , then finally getting to the airport and stressing about whether you are protected enough , airplanes conveniently forgetting about social distancing just to increase their ROI , cancellations and delays and I for one would not blame you for going certifiably cray cray at this point .
But wait . We are not done . You have now arrived at your destination and have gone through the whole special Corona procedure and are now at your accommodation only to learn that your home country has decided to close its border to travelers from the exact destination you just arrived at . Or you get there and there is a strict curfew and a semi-lockdown in effect . Or no bars and restaurants are allowed to open . Or , you must quarantine for 24 hours before enjoying your trip . These are all examples out of my book of Travel Horrors endured since this terrible virus has decided to put a big stop on our normal travel lives . From spending new year ’ s in my bed because of a 9pm curfew in Curaçao , to stressing about how to get home after my island closed its border to travelers coming from Aruba where I just happened to be at the time ; to Antwerp ’ s takeout only policy while I was in the city ; and Anguilla ’ s 24 to 48 hour quarantine , it has all left me a bit wary of traveling myself , and I thought I was a pro at traveling during the pandemic . I must have been poked in the nose over a dozen times and let me tell you those PCR tests don ’ t get easier . Being vaccinated doesn ’ t seem to open too many doors either .
What can I say other than I understand your hesitation to travel right now and I definitely recognize the frustration you are experiencing with the different and ever changing entry requirements ? It ’ s not easy . I wish there was a secret formula that I could reveal to you today that would make it all super easy , but there is none .
