My Mom teaching me to ride a bike
Mr brother and I , bike riding in the backyard fruit loops would last us a whole week and that was mainly because each of us 4 kids would get a bowl of instant milk with four or five fruit loops drifting in it . That box of Fruit Loops was kept locked away so we couldn ’ t get more whenever mom wasn ’ t looking . Sandwiches were two slices of bread , butter and one slice of either cheese or ham or salami and going for seconds was something I only got to do at friends ’ homes .
But all that saving and careful living meant that we got to travel once , sometimes twice a year . We have been to Disney at least 4 times and anyone going to Disney knows how expensive
it is just to enter the parks . I never got to eat at any of the restaurants in the parks until I went back as an adult . I realized then why my parents made sure to feed us a hearty breakfast bought at a Seven Eleven prior to the park and buy us a few hot dogs and fries to share in the park itself . My dad considered travel to be the highest form of education . It helped us with our languages , it taught us to be considerate to others , we got to know other cultures and it reminded us of how lucky we were . It also made me into the travel-obsessed blogger I am today .
Yes , my childhood was amazing .
I cannot complain . No , wait . I take that back . The only thing I can complain about is that it ’ s over . Like any other child I too could not wait to become an adult and make my own rules , but what I wouldn ’ t give to have those stress-free days again . And what I wouldn ’ t give to have my parents young and vibrant like they were back then . I realize how lucky we were to have had both parents so involved in our lives . We really were the center of their universe .
I could write a book , followed by a sequel with all the stories from my youth and I could come up with more reasons why raising your children on
