Curaçao began re-opening its borders to select international markets as of mid- June and early July . We have been eager to return to a time when international travelers rubbed elbows with locals , but have taken a guarded , thoughtful approach to reopening . From the beginning , Curaçao has opted to postpone immediate action until we could more confidently sustain the health of the community and protect both visitors and travelers alike . Over the past several months , our government has followed WHO guidelines and consulted a panel of esteemed doctors both domestically and in The Netherlands to meticulously define new travel protocols and determine the island ’ s phased re-opening strategy . We made the decision to slowly re-open Curaçao ’ s tourism industry after taking a multitude of factors into account including current cases , airlift , impact on the local economy , etc .
Our protocol series called , “ A Dushi Stay , the Healthy Way ” is aimed to inform both the tourism industry in Curaçao , as well as visitors on the do ’ s and don ’ ts . It stresses travelers ’ role in following Curaçao ’ s enhanced protocols . Ultimately , ensuring the health and safety of our residents and travelers continues to be our top priority . Our methodical , cautious approach has proven to be successful thus far as we ’ ve managed to keep a low number of Covid cases following the reopening while welcoming over 9,000 European visitors for the month of August .
