Over 20 different nationalities call Statia home and the resulting diversity is something they
proudly celebrate. On the last Thursday of every month, all of that diversity is displayed in
culinary fashion at the recurring Taste of the Cultures event held at the Mike van Putten Youth
Centre. From 6:00 - 9:00 pm, patrons are treated to an impressive assortment of food, beverages,
music and entertainment.
If you’re on the island at this time, don’t miss it! Three hours of delectable discoveries await.
St. Eustatius . . .
Dormant volcano, verdant forest, and interesting hiking trails make
Statia an eco-tourist’s paradise. On the various trails, you may encounter
butterflies - 30 species live on St. Eustatius, bats - four species; the Statia
Bee which you will find on tree branches in the Northern Hills; the Lesser
Antillean iguana; birds such as the Bridled Quail-dove and the American
Kestrel, plus many species endemic to the island and others which are
endangered.
