Saint Lucia When you close your eyes and imagine a beach paradise, you think of sitting in a wooden plank chair, silky, soft white sand sneaking between your toes, a cold drink in hand, surrounded by the view of palm trees and crystal clear water. The ocean breeze tickling your nose as you take big, deep breaths, comfortably relaxing into your surroundings, not allowing anything but the sound of palm leaves rustling in the wind behind you, to pass through to your ears. Now, opening your eyes and taking a look at the picture of St. Lucia on your computer screen, you come to the realization that your island paradise is real, its name is St. Lucia and, more importantly, it’s calling your name! If you’re the type of traveller who thinks enveloping yourself in the island’s culture translates into ‘finding delicious’, then you have many choices, local and international, along the culinary line. If you’re lucky to be here in June, you will have come in time to enjoy the Fisherman’s Feast which happens in late June and is the island’s equivalent to something of a Thanksgiving feast. You can use that opportunity to indulge in their local specialty of Langouste, or small lobster, full of fresh and vibrant flavors. Other delectable local food will also be available in various communities during this celebration. If nature excites you, hike through the Tet Paul Nature Trail and explore the island’s biodiversity. If Instagram-worthy pics are your thing, then you’ll want to hike to the Gros Piton peak to capture views that will make your heart flutter and take your breath away. So many choices!
