A conch is a large edible marine snail widely consumed through the Caribbean islands and is very much a part of the cuisine of The Bahamas. The conch meat is tough and preparation usually requires the use of a meat mallet to soften prior to eating. It is consumed in a variety of ways including raw, or merely marinating in a few tablespoons of lime juice then it’s ready to be eaten. Other preparations include conch fritters, conch salad, stewed conch, among others. You will find conch in many of the restaurants in The Bahamas. © Bahamas Tourism Ministry
