Main
Street
St. Thomas
Even if the island wasn’t duty free, St.
Thomas would still probably be known
for having the best shopping plaza in
the Caribbean. While strolling along
Main Street or Dronningens Gade as
it is oftentimes called, you can buy
anything from electronics, perfumes,
designer clothing, to bottles of alcohol
and diamonds. Its cobblestone alleyways
and other landmarks are reminiscent of
the island’s Danish history with Danish
colonial architecture evident throughout
Charlottte Amalie, the capital.
The hurricane in 2017 severely damaged
the shops on Main Street and some
even now, are still boarded up, but the
shopping experience is still second to
none in the Caribbean.
