Conch Festival This marine snail is a delicacy in many Caribbean islands and in the Turks and Caicos, it is the most popular dish on the menus of many restaurants. Conch is prepared in many ways but two dishes consumed most often are conch salad and conch fritters. So popular is the conch that it has its own festival. On Providenciales, a festival is held every year in November, where various conch-related activities and competitions takes place. That festival is a cultural and culinary display with local vendors selling products, music enhancing the atmosphere and families all enjoying the celebration of a national delicacy. Visitors often take conch shells back home with them as souvenir items but they are not allowed to have more than 3 conch shells and the size should be no more than 18cm.
