Visit the Unfinished Church
Looking like a ruin from a romantic fairy tale, this
unfinished church in the town of George, although
overgrown with grass in places, is a much-visited tourist
attraction. It was once destined to be a replacement
for St. Peter’s Church in the mid-19th century but, for a
variety of reasons, including storms, lack of funding, plus
parishioners inability to agree on exactly what should
be done about it, this incomplete, yet majestic Gothic
structure is now a World Heritage Site.
