Events OCTOBER 6 - 8 Coppice Festival, North Andros A street festival that brings together the people of Nicolls Town, as they celebrate one of the oldest areas in the settlement. The street is blocked off from one block to the other, as vendors line the sides. There is great Bahamian food, music, games, and entertainment. OCTOBER 6 - 8 Mars Bay Conch Fest, South Andros This annual festival showcases the history and culture of “conching” in South Andros and features a number of indigenous cultural activities that emphasize the conch. NOVEMBER 8 - 11 Wahoo Smackdown X This is an annual tournament which draw thousands of anglers to Bimini for this fun- filled Wahoo fishing event. NOV. to DEC.1 Bimini Wahoo Mayhem With the tournament being held at the peak of Wahoo season in one of the most prolific Wahoo destinations in the world, teams across the country and the Caribbean are drawn to compete in this world class event. This tournament has no boundaries, allowing teams to fish in the richest areas of the Bahamas in search of monster Wahoo. Click here for more. DECEMBER 1 Abaco Christmas Festival This very popular Festival takes place every year on the first Saturday in December, kicking off the holiday season in The Abacos. Activities include early Christmas shopping at the Arts & Crafts Bazaar; a Food Court filled with a variety of Bahamian foods, pastries and beverages; performances from Choirs, Quartets, Soloists, Marching and Calypso Bands; a Dog Show and more. The highlight of the evening is the illustrious sounds of Junkanoo, with the intoxicating beat of the goat skin drums and costumes with a kaleidoscope of colors and designs.
